Michael Gambon
The Lonsdale, Jesmond, I have used this pub for nearly 15 years, so have seen it change with new staff coming and going, blah blah blah.
The pub itself serves a purpose, in that anyone living near to it who doesn't like, up-itself-Osbourne Road, has somewhere reasonable to hang out for a pint or nine.
The place suffers from the worst management imaginable to mankind, I think the current hosts have been there about 10 years now and have not appeared to have learnt a thing about running a pub.
The food since they took over is appaling on a good day, you ask for a salad with your meal in here they either look at you strangely or begrudgingly give you a lettuce leaf with a small clump of cress attached.
When they put sport on the telly they refuse to turn the music off which has a wonderful effect on the ears. The toilets are always dirty and malodourous, with no soap, toilet seats missing, no locks on the door etc.
In fact I now see why I am going elsewhere tonight. It's like the Toon, sack the board! and get this place running as it should, and once used to.
