I've been going to Pani's for years. The reason why people become patrons is because you wont really find anywhere else in Newcastle that is as friendly, or as welcoming. The food is nice, all Italian based; , sandwiches, pasta dishes, soups, seafood and sweets like ice cream or specials of the day.Vegetarians also have some food to choose from.Children are not only welcome, they're expected and welcomed by the staff and the customers, they usually get little gifts of biscuits and certainly lots of attention.Pani's also offer free Italian lessons every Monday night, which are relaxed and enjoyable affairs.I personally have yet to find a better cafe latte in Newcastle, and their spicy fish soup with tiger prawns and chilli is to die for.I very much enjoy the banter between staff and customers, people who go to Pani's always make friends, we know each other by name and we're always glad to see each other, it's lovely.
